Dubbo Community Meeting – Understanding Palestine

This meeting is an opportunity to understand and explore the background to news reports about Palestine.  The media seldom tries to explain the context behind dramatic reports of suicide bombings, rocket attacks, hunger strikes,  invasions of the West Bank or Gaza, and most recently of conflict between the Prime Minister and her party over how Australia should vote in the UN.

Community Meeting: Understanding Palestine
6.30 pm   Wednesday 5th December
Room 144 Charles Sturt University Dubbo Campus
organised by Frank Doolan

Shawan Jabarin is the head of Al Haq, the leading human rights organisation in Palestine and the winner of many international awards, including the Distinguished Graduate Award from the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the National University of Ireland.  He can give a picture of life in Palestine today.  He will be introduced by his friend Emeritus Professor Hal Wootten AC QC who will briefly summarise the historical background.

Shawan and Hal have been invited to Dubbo by Frank Doolan, whose interest in Palestine was kindled when he recently went to the Palestinian Film Festival.
