The illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza and the closure of the Rafah crossing by the Egyptian authorities has led to a lack of fuel and power cuts, which prevent the pumping stations from operating and led to raw sewage in the streets.
The storm that has hit Gaza over the weekend has caused the sewage to spread and the Israeli government’s opening of floodgates on dams that it controls in the central part of the Strip has exacerbated the situation.
As a result many homes and other properties have been destroyed and the humanitarian situation has further plummeted. More details are available via Gaza Ark website: http://gazaark.org
