Support Gaza petition – Free Gaza Australia and Sydney action

The illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza and the closure of the Rafah crossing by the Egyptian authorities has led to a lack of fuel and power cuts, which prevent the pumping stations from operating and led to raw sewage in the streets.Gaza floods Dac 2013

The storm that has hit Gaza over the weekend has caused the sewage to spread and the Israeli government’s opening of floodgates on dams that it controls in the central part of the Strip has exacerbated the situation.

As a result many homes and other properties have been destroyed and the humanitarian situation has further plummeted. More details are available via Gaza Ark website: http://gazaark.org

On Friday Free Gaza Australia will deliver a petition of over 11,000 names to the Egyptian Consulate in Sydney. Please join them.

Date: Friday 20 December
Time: 11.15am
Address: Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt
241 Commonwealth Street (corner of Foveaux Street), Surry Hills

Details of petition:

  • Re-open the Rafah crossing to travelers going in and out of Gaza, with reasonable security checks and no artificial limits.
  • Halt the destruction of the tunnels until Egypt has opened the Rafah crossing to commercial traffic, including fuel and construction materials.
  • Work to open Gaza’s borders with both Egypt and Israel on a permanent basis, as well as to allow Palestinians to travel and trade via air and sea – thus ending the blockade and allowing the residents to build a normal economy.

Please forward on details of this action on Friday to your networks and if you haven’t already please sign the online petition:
